GOLDEN MILE AND THE OLD ARBAT STREET

“Oh Arbat, my Arbat, you are my calling”, the famous Russian bard Bulat Okudzhava wrote in his “Song of the Arbat,” confessing his love to one of the most famous streets in Moscow. First mentioned in historical documents of the 16th century it is now a big draw for foreign tourists.

People often call Ostozhenka the “Golden Mile”, since it is a place where magnificient homes are under construction. One day the new buildings will probably replace all the old ones. However, today you can still find a lot of precious fragments of the past at the Ostozhenka and adjacent streets. And the aristocratic Prechistenka is a treasury of historical values.

REVIEWS OF OUR CLIENTS

I had such an amazing tour around Moscow with Irina, she is so nice and openminded. She showed me all the beauty, even if hidden places, of the city and told me a lot nice stories about it, she also speaks such a good English! The tour with Irina was also so great because she likes cultural exchange just like me, I've already loved Moscow but thanks to her it became my favorite city!! I definitely recommend to have the tour around Moscow with Best Moscow Tour!!

What a fantastic service our group of 5 adults had the pleasure of using the guides Olga,Alex and Anna who where all excellent. We where shown the Metro and the Kremlin and lots more. This is value for money and helped us to navigate the Metro which we couldn't have done without help. Don't hesitate to contact them you will not be disappointed, thanks Best Moscow Tour for organising everything.

I was lucky enough to stumble across the website of the Best Moscow tour just before I left to go there on holiday. I gave them only three days notice but still they happily fit me in! I met up with Anna near Red Square and as we walked through the area she told me all about the buildings and some of the history of the places there. We've started walking through some of the backstreet and found some very unique buildings! She told me all about the Moscow baroque style and took me to some of the out the way churches in the superb Russian Orthodox style. She took me along the river past the Kremlin to a park nearby which had some great sculptures and a 'pirate ship' close by (better known as Peter the Great monument!). We then walked over to the artistic corner of Moscow where we settled in for a nice coffee and a chat. Finally we finished up at a market close to the Metro Station. Anna was such an amazing guide and I really had such a great time seeing the sights of Moscow with her! She even helped me read my train ticket so I got on the right carriage entrained later that night :-) she was so helpful and I was able to use all the facts she told me, later on, to show off my knowledge when I came back with friends! I definitely recommend this tour to everyone as it's tailored. Thanks again!!

From the Best Moscow Tour (while I was still at home in the U.S.) to the clear, friendly, and helpful communication with Program Director, to the heartwarming and delightful day I spent with Anna, the experience of seeing Moscow through the eyes of an enthusiastic, caring local resident was extraordinarily special! Anna was very personable and interested in her visitor, well acquainted and informed about the Novodevichy Convent and the Novodevichy Cemetery, which I had requested to visit, and very efficient about getting us there on the Metro and back to my hotel again. She met me at my hotel, and we spent over 4 hours together---a perfect length for this special adventure. She is a very fluent and adept English speaker. We had such warm-hearted conversations enroute and while at the convent and cemetery and during the lunch at a nearby Georgian restaurant where I took her as my guest.
